Since 2018, the diocese has organised an annual family weekend, with the 2024 event expected to host around 23 families, totalling approximately 130 people at Narrows Park in Tamahere.
Each year, a unique theme is chosen to enrich our families' faith journeys. Parents can listen to inspirational speakers while their children engage in sessions that include crafts and age-appropriate catechesis, all based on the chosen theme.
The weekend provides an excellent opportunity for connection, attracting families from across the diocese, and features dedicated sessions for fun family activities. Meals are provided, allowing families to mix and mingle and share stories—both the joyful moments of raising children and the challenges they may face.
Families leave the weekend with parents feeling renewed in their vocations, children who have made new friends to connect with at future youth events, and a broader network within the community to grow in Christ together.
