About
Making a Positive Difference
FOR OVER 40 YEARS
The Catholic Development Fund has operated in the Hamilton Diocese for over 40 years.
The CDF of the Catholic Diocese of Hamilton has its origins in the Diocesan Development Fund, established in 1981 by the diocese’s founding bishop, Most Rev Edward Gaines.
In July 2001, the name was changed to Catholic Development Fund to better reflect its Catholic identity and ability to respond to the needs of our Diocese. However, it’s purpose and ethos remain unchanged – to keep the Catholic Faith alive by assisting the Bishop of Hamilton in his pastoral work.
How it works
PRIORITISING WHAT MATTERS
The purpose of the CDF is to make a positive difference by assisting the Bishop to achieve his mission within our Diocese. An annual distribution to the Bishop contributes to supporting Catholic Social Services, Catholic Education, Catholic Youth Ministry, Chaplaincy Services and National Seminary.
The CDF provides loan funding so that projects which keep our faith growing and strengthen our Catholic community can be completed without the need for parishes, schools and Catholic organisations to borrow funds commercially.
Opening a CDF account is not just a financial decision but a way to make a positive difference. By assisting the church in its mission and supporting the Bishop in his ministry, you become an active participant in the growth of our Diocese.
The CDF pays interest on investments, does NOT charge fees of any kind and provides a 100% guarantee on your investments from the Bishop.
Our People
The CDF is managed from the Diocesan Office and governed by the Diocesan Treasury Committee, appointed by and representing the Bishop of Hamilton.
